Product Description
WAGO COMPACT 221-413 Quick Connector – 3x 0.2–4 mm2 transparent with levers
WAGO 221-413 is a 3-pole installation quick connector from the COMPACT 221 series, enabling splitting one electrical circuit into three copper conductors in a single compact element. Designed for solid, stranded and fine-stranded conductors without tools. Transparent polycarbonate housing and CAGE CLAMP® technology provide a reliable, gas-tight connection and instant visual inspection of the assembly.
Key advantages
- 3 terminals in one connector – perfect for branching: joins three conductors of same potential in one point. Allows combining three conductor types and sizes in one connector without extra accessories.
- Tool-free installation – 3 steps: lift the lever, insert stripped conductor, lower the lever. Drastically shorter installation time and elimination of crimping errors.
- Universal – solid, stranded and ferruled conductors: supports solid conductor (0.2–4.0 mm2), stranded conductor (0.2–4.0 mm2) and ferruled conductor (0.2–4.0 mm2) in any combination. One product replaces several connector types.
- Transparent housing – visual inspection: transparent polycarbonate allows immediate check of correct conductor insertion and stripping length for all three conductors. Quick quality check with no disassembly.
- Two test holes: allow voltage and continuity measurement with connected conductors without disconnection. Fast field diagnostics.
- COMPACT – 40% smaller than 222 series: new housing geometry enables fitting more connectors in same distribution box or junction box space. Neat installation, space saving.

Applications
- Branching electrical circuits in installation boxes – connecting one supply conductor with two loads.
- Lighting installations – rapid power splitting for LED and conventional fixtures.
- Distribution boards and control cabinets – grouping phase, neutral or protective earth (PE) potentials.
- Maintenance and modernization – quick replacement of connectors without disturbing the rest of the installation.
- Installations in refrigeration furniture, catering equipment, and industrial appliances.
How to use
- Strip each conductor to 11 mm.
- Lift the lever of the selected terminal upward.
- Insert the conductor fully into the terminal hole.
- Lower the lever – conductor is clamped. Repeat for remaining terminals.
Connector is for copper conductors only. Do not use with aluminum conductors.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the difference between 221-413 and 221-412?
Model 221-413 has 3 terminals instead of 2. This allows connecting three conductors in one point. Electrical ratings (450 V / 32 A) and cross-section ranges are identical. 221-413 is slightly wider: 18.7 mm vs 13.1 mm.
Can I connect solid and stranded conductors in the same 221-413 connector?
Yes – this is one of the key advantages of the 221 series. In three terminals of one connector you can simultaneously connect e.g. a 2.5 mm2 solid conductor, 1.5 mm2 stranded conductor, and 1.0 mm2 ferruled conductor in any combination.
How much insulation should be stripped?
The required stripping length is exactly 11 mm for each of the three conductors. Transparent housing allows visual verification of correct insertion of all conductors.
Can the connector be repeatedly disconnected?
Yes. Each of the three levers can be independently opened and closed any number of times – CAGE CLAMP® clamping force remains stable during the entire lifetime.
Is 221-413 suitable for PE protective circuits?
The transparent 221 series connector is designed for general circuit wiring. For PE and N circuits it is recommended to use dedicated color-coded connectors (green-yellow / blue) according to installation standards.
What is the maximum operating temperature?
The WAGO 221-413 connector operates from -40°C to +85°C (T85 class). It is suitable for indoor installations and equipment exposed to elevated ambient temperature.
